Three students of SM Sains Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by Mr Jasmi bin Md Isa (Senior Teacher of Co-Curicular) participated in the 6TH Asean Plus Three (APT) Junior Science Odyssey hosted by The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and supported by ASEAN + 3 Center for Gifted in Science (ACGS) and ASEAN Secretariat from 10 to 15 July, 2017 in Hanoi, Vietnam. 13 countries participated in this event such as Sweden, China, China Taipei,Korea, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Phillipines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia and Malaysia.They debated on issues “Renewable Energy For Life”. The events consisted of Poster Presentation, Lab Skill Assessment and Pitching Project Performance. The students who won medals and certificates in Poster Presentation and Biology Lab Skill Assessment were Nisa Malihah Amni binti Mohd Nizam (3 Jaya), Aiman Firdaus bin Mohammad Kamarul Shah (3 Jaya) and Siti Hajar binti Mohd Zaidi (3 Jaya). Aiman Firdaus bin Mohammad Kamarul Shah also won the First Place Prize in Pitching Project Performance.
A. EVENT OUTLINE
1.1 To improve and globalize informal education for gifted in science through sharing ideas of accumulated knowledge and programs among SMSS students with the Asean Plus Three (APT) members.
1.2 To encourage and challenge SMSS students to excel in the field of science and technology.
1.3 To stimulate SMSS students’ intellectual curiosity through various experiences and experiments.
1.4 To foster friendship and networking among SMSS students with gifted students in the APT region.
1.5 To motivate SMSS students to pursue careers in science and technology.

The implementation of HOTS ideas in Laboratory Skill Assessment where the students must understand how solar energy is collected, converted and used in different field of , biology, chemistry and physics. The reasoning behind the application of concept and knowledge inconverting the solar energy to electrical energy was presented in the competition. In Group Pitching Project, the students needed to enhance their knowledge about Renewable Energy to replace fossil fuels and to serve individuals, households, enterprises and communities towards more convenient and green environment.
